My goal is to create an atmosphere where allotted time, patience, nonjudgmental and empathy measures are rendered and valued. I will work with you to meet your goals of improving your mental wellness.

Someone Who Gets It

Life can get overwhelming at times. Do you feel you just need that one on one direct communication to discuss concerns, questions or treatment options without needing to make an immediate decision right away? Are you a caregiver or friend who does not know where to begin to help someone else that is mentally overwhelmed? It can be difficult to find the resources to address these questions and you don’t know what to do or go from here?

This is where I may be able to assist you! I am Cherrisse Bunch an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner with years of nursing expertise in medical and psychiatric care in NYC. In my practice I believe in the value of listening to expressed concerns used to integrate and provide well informed education and treatment decisions. This approach allows for better understanding in treatment direction and interventions to potentially enhance balance and wellness.

I will work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan which could include medical condition education, medication therapies or lifestyle changes.

About Me

I’m an ANCC Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner providing mental health assessments, evaluations and medication management combined with psychotherapy using holistic interventions for young adults to older adults with mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, panic disorders, OCD, PTSD and cognitive behaviors such as behavior disturbances in Dementias.

In my practice, I integrate an understanding of mental and nursing health to provide  evidence-based psychopharmacological and therapeutic strategies. I also use non pharmacological  approaches including meditation, mindfulness, and lifestyle change approaches  to help you find balance in your life.

My background in Nursing  includes working in Public/Community Health, Hospice Care, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Transitional Care Programs and Behavioral Health Home Care practices.

My Services

  • The first step in working together includes a comprehensive assessment of the symptoms you are experiencing, your psychosocial and medical history, and your goals for treatment. After the assessment, we will create an individualized and evidence-based treatment plan that may include therapeutic strategies, medication recommendations, or lifestyle changes.

When treatment begins, the most important thing for me is to get to know you. I want you to feel comfortable with working with me in a collaborative way where we make decisions together.

We will spend our first session exploring “your mental health goals”. What was your path leading you to coming in to speak with me? I want to know what your hopes are for working together. We rule out what factors could be from stress going on in life, genetics, or medical history. We will spend the last portion of the session on understanding what options there are for treatment which may include medication or recommendations for therapeutic services.

  • Medication management includes prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications in assisting clients to achieve fulfillment in their mental health. Medications are sometimes used to support other strategies (therapy), or to provide faster relief of distressing symptoms, with the goal of discontinuing medications once clients have established healthier coping skills and made appropriate lifestyle changes. In addition to medication, we also may incorporate diet, sleep, meditation or exercise recommendations..

Whether you are currently on psychiatric medication, have recently started on it, or want to taper off medication, or just want to learn more about medication options we will work together to create a thorough and individualized treatment plan for you to feel better and be your best self.

After we meet, I will provide you my honest recommendations to best suit your needs where I may suggest not starting with psychotropic medication or changing your current psychotropic medications until we explore alternate non pharmacological interventions if more appropriate.

  • Through integrative psychotherapeutic strategies, I will provide you with the tools and coping skills you need to process and alleviate stressors and optimize mental health. If you have an outside therapist, I am willing to work collaboratively with your therapist to establish a treatment team approach to helping your symptoms.

  • While physicians and nurse practitioners have many similarities, there are some notable differences. As a DNP, I provide care for my patients on a different level, combining a focus on patient experience, accumulated nursing research and the highest level of nursing practice to improve patient outcomes. In  addition to the pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic knowledge from my nursing  training, I provide a comprehensive perspective and caring touch to health care.

  •  With my patient-centered, compassionate nursing approach, I take the time to listen and hear your concerns and make sure we address them.

  • Sometimes medication treatment is not the best next step. Examining the entirety of you and looking at the whole person is essential into exploring appropriate actions that may include only counseling or referrals to medical specialists for extensive medical evaluations.
